In October we shared E.D.I.T.H. House (exit drills in the home) with Selkirk Elementary students in Metaline Falls, educating them on fire safety protocols in various household areas (kitchen, living room, and bedroom) and stressing the importance of safe evacuation procedures and designated rally points. The students practiced crawling on their hands and knees in a simulated smoky environment and learned how to feel for heat at doors. They also had the opportunity to see a firefighter in full gear, including airpack and face mask, which familiarizes them with emergency responders and reduces potential fear in emergency situations.
