Safety & Responsiveness

Pend Oreille County Fire District 2 stands as a beacon of safety and responsiveness, offering Fire Suppression, Technical Rescue, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) across a vast expanse of 803 square miles in the northern reaches of Pend Oreille County. Our dedicated team serves not only the residents and visitors of Ione, Metaline Falls, and Metaline but also extends Advanced Life Support (ALS) services to over 11,000 individuals across an additional 622 square miles. Our commitment stretches further to providing vital hospital-to-hospital transport services, connecting communities with Newport Community Hospital, Providence Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville, Providence Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Chewelah, and other critical healthcare facilities throughout the Inland Northwest.

At the heart of our operations is a dynamic team of Volunteer and full-time firefighters, EMTs, and Paramedics who collectively respond to more than 2000 emergency calls each year. Remarkably, 93 percent of these calls demand our expert EMS support. Our unwavering dedication to fiscal responsibility and transparency has enabled us to operate within a balanced budget, successfully passing all financial and accountability audits conducted by the state. As a municipal corporation of the State of Washington, Pend Oreille County Fire District 2 is resolute in its mission to protect life and property through its comprehensive fire protection and emergency medical services.
